Caterham Street Party
Once again Vivace Pianos donated a piano to the Caterham festival for all members of the public to enjoy.
Presented by ABRSM examiner Philippa Topham and attended by a number of local piano teachers, this workshop focused on revised teaching methods highlighted by the highly acclaimed Piano Adventures series. All the teachers left extremely enthused and with a free gift. We were extremely fortunate and grateful to have Philippa as the presenter as her workshops are extremely popular and often fully booked. We look forward to her next visit to Vivace Pianos.
National Learn to Play Day
Now in its third year, the National Learn to Play Day took place on Saturday 14 April 2014. Once again Vivace Pianos opened its doors to the public giving away free piano lessons to anyone who walked in, regardless of their age and whether they had any piano playing experience or not. This year was definitely our most successful, and nationally, thousands of free lessons were given away. We can't wait to start organizing next years event and we hope to have even more people take up the piano!

This year Vivace Pianos provided the piano accompaniment for the Christmas carols whilst the christmas lights were turned on at the cedar tree in Caterham on the Hill.
An evening with local piano teachers.
Another concert at the Arc
Our annual concert at the Arc was again a huge success. Once again we had a packed venue, and the music continued till late in the evening. The first concert contained many of our younger pianists who all played remarkably well, followed by the second concert, performed by our older students, all of whom played to an extremely high standard. We had a guest performer at the first concert; Connor, who has had lessons with us for many years and has just achieved his Grade 8, many of the younger students were inspired by his seemingly effortless performance. We were also treated to three of the Vivace teachers performing a piece for six-hands, which was very enjoyable and amusing to watch! We are very proud of all our students and teachers alike who took part and made it such a memorable night.
The Street Piano
As part of the Caterham Festival 2013, we placed a piano in the street for all members of the public to enjoy. We have very much enjoyed hearing from everyone about their experiences with our Street Piano, including the impromptu mini concerts from passers by and some new talent starting up!
A Grand Piano for The Arc
Although the Arc is generally well-equipped for its activities, it did not have a piano. So Vivace Pianos decided to search out a worthwhile instrument for use at Theatre Workshops, Dance Groups, musical evenings. After much searching a Bechstein Model E 6’6” grand piano was found. It required much restoration all of which has been carried out by Vivace Pianos. Funds were raised by the sale of secondhand music as well as the proceeds of their last concert. The Bechstein which dates back to the end of the 19th Century belonged to a jazz pianist who lived locally. During WWII he was part of a band, Jack Patrick & his Harmonic Syncopators. The piano has been donated by his son Allan as he does not play and the piano has been sitting idle since his father’s death some years ago.
New Teaching Rooms Open
We are both pleased and proud to say that our new teaching rooms are completed and in use. Currently over 120 children & adults have piano lessons at Vivaces custom-built teaching studios. Please note our studios are also available for private hire during the day by anybody wanting to practice or teachers.
