We held the first concert at The Arc in Caterham on May 11th.
This was also the first time the new Bechstein grand piano was used.
The evening went very well and we're pleased with the new venue.

Local people will be familiar with The Arc Arts Centre situated on the Village Development (the old Barracks Site) in Caterham on the Hill. Although the Arc is a generally well-equipped for its activities, it did not have one crucial piece of equipment - a piano.
So here at Vivace Pianos, we decided to search out a worthwhile instrument to facilitate use for Theatre Workshops, Dance Groups, musical evenings – in fact anything requiring piano accompaniment.
After much searching – a Bechstein Model E 6’6” grand piano was found. It required a lot of restoration as well as French polishing etc. all of which has been carried out by Vivace Pianos. Funds have been raised by the sale of secondhand music as well as the proceeds of their last concert. Although the work is now complete, more fundraising is planned to cover the various associated costs.
The Bechstein which dates back to the end of the 19th Century belonged to a jazz pianist who lived locally. During WWII he was part of a band known as Jack Patrick & his Harmonic Syncopators. The piano has been donated by his son Allan as he does not play and the piano has been sitting idle since his father’s death some years ago.

Vivace Pianos has been nominated in the Music Industries Association 2011 awards. This is in the category for the best independent music retailer in the U.K.
We listen to our customers needs and we work hard to provide the most appropriate answer for their requirements. This is the same for a sheet of music or a grand piano and increasingly our new range of guitar and other instrument accessories together with the best of service. Hopefully this nomination reflects this.
We are both pleased and proud to say that our new teaching rooms are completed and now in use.
These have enabled us to accommodate an ever-increasing number of pupils and to extend the lessons offered to now include guitar, ukulele and flute. We have spaces available for lessons on all of these instruments so please contact us if you would like to know more or wish to book.
